Quadrivium Courses
Arithmetic:
Course Description:
This course will go over the four fundamental operations performed on numbers, fractions, and decimals: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. There will also be much practice on applications of these operations.
Arithmetic is designed to teach students basic numerical literacy required in life. It also prepares one for more abstract thinking found in Algebra.
Objectives:
- Perform the four operations on numbers in any form, i.e., whole numbers, fractions, or decimals.
- Solve computation problems that my come up in everyday life.
- Translating descriptions into arithmetic expressions.
Instructor: Noorullah Wardak
Time: Mondays 5:00 AM – 6:30 PM Pacific.
Beginning: August 15, 2022 – October 17, 2022
Cost: $300.00 per quarter. 10% off for early registration | Ends June 30th.
Location: Online via Zoom
Age: 14 +
Duration: 10 Weeks per quarter
Pre-Algebra:
Course Description:
This course will introduce students to a more abstract level of thinking compared to Arithmetic. We will cover the order of operations, solving equations, simplifying algebraic expressions, as well as introductory probability and measurement.
Pre-Algebra is meant to introduce students to dealing with variables (unknown quantities). This will allow students a smoother transition into Algebra where variables will be dealt with in every topic.
Objectives:
- Evaluating expressions according to the order of operations.
- Creating and simplifying algebraic expressions.
- Solving equations.
- Translating descriptions into algebraic expressions

Geometry:
Course Description:
This course is meant to familiarize students with Euclid’s famed text on geometry, though it won’t be the primary text for the course. This course will cover points, lines, and the traditional plane figures (rectangle, triangle, circle, etc.). We will also cover the basics of proving theorems and types of logical statements (converse, contrapositive, etc.). Students will become familiar with the axiomatic nature of mathematics.
Geometry will introduce students to logical thinking, which is the objective of mathematics. This course will also allow students to learn about shapes and two-dimensional planes, as that is how we experience much of the world around us.
Objectives:
- Computing area, perimeter and volume of common shapes and figures.
- Writing proofs of theorems using sound logic.
- Familiarity with Euclid’s Elements.
